Yarn along

041

Beth’s tunic is coming together.  I’m enjoying it more now I’m not feeling the heat to complete it before Easter (clearly I didn’t finish it!)

On Friday Beth returned her book bag from nursery and guess what was inside.  The first tunic! Gah! How did I put it in there? Well, at least it came home.  I’ve unraveled most of it and I think I will turn whats left of it into a pull over for Arthur. Maybe not though.  I am a bit done with this yarn.  We don’t agree!  It’s beautiful and I love the colour but I feel a  bit resentful towards it.  Maybe we just need some time apart after Beth’s LekSak is finished?

We were given some money for Arthur’s birthday and this two seat bike trailer was half price. I took it shopping yesterday with both kids and it worked well.  Why didn’t I get one sooner? Here is Graham giving it a test run.

Turning One

Image

Arthur turned one recently.  Goodness, how did that happen? One already?

It has been such a wonderful year getting to know this funny, inquisitive, sweet little boy.  He is fearless, strong willed and has a  hilarious sense of humor that is a joy to spend time with. He really brings love to everyone that knows him.  What a gift he is.

The night before his birthday I realised I hadn’t completed his birthday crown so frantically I finished it just before Graham and I went to bed. I like how special birthday crowns make children feel. Personally I like the crown to reflect the season or personality of it’s owner.  Beth has brown Autumn leafs on her crown and Arthur has toadstools.  The idea behind it is toadstools grow in wet seasons like Spring and, besides, I’ve always liked them.

The last two weeks have been taken up with packing, visiting family, spending rare time with my glorious nieces, two birthday celebrations, Easter, and cycling. It’s been busy but enjoyable.  We have a cycle path next to our house that leads to Loch Lomond.  One morning we packed a lunch, got on our bikes and went along it.  Beth was on her own bike so I was aware of not going too far for her.  However, she did a great job.  She cycled 10 miles and sang the whole way! Well, at 20 min intervals she would stop singing to shout “This is beautiful!” What a lass!

Ugh, Beth’s LeKsak is moving so slowly. Since I knitted most of the last one before I stupidly lost it I feel like I’ve not made any progress with this one. It’s a shame because I love the pattern (and now know it to memory!) I’m dearly looking forwards to Beth wearing it in the coming months.  I have fantasies of her wearing it over a dress with sandy bare feet walking along the beach. Oh, please come together dear tunic!

Something magical happened on Tuesday, we woke up to clear skies and warm sunshine. It was wonderful. Two days of bare feet and flower crowns. Long may it last.

Over the weekend

Oh. MY. Glob! I gave a huge bag of clothes to charity AND I’ve stupidly lost Beth’s ALMOST completed spring tunic.  Along with my circular needles and most a skein of an over priced yarn! It got mixed up with the clothes and I didn’t remember about it until after the weekend. Argh!

So today I had to replace the two balls of yarn (now each priced at £8.50) and purchase another set of needles. Boo! She isn’t going to be wearing it in two weeks. I have to do packing, Arthur’s gift making, a job interview, Easter, family staying.  It’s just the worst!

In better news we met a friendly puppy at the weekend and Arthur was really taken with him.

My friend is going through a rough time with her Mother’s health at the moment so it was great to have a rare night with her on Friday.  We had tickets for Goldfrapp.  It’s not a secret that we’re both a touch are in love with her.  An old friend was working on the bar at the venue so we had plenty free drinks (more than plenty!) to keep us going.

here is me the following day….Looking still a bit drunk!

Yarn Along

{once again joining Ginny for Yarn along }

Beth’s tunic is coming along but I’m a bit concerned it looks too small! It’s a straightforward pattern but I’m worried I’ve made a mistake somewhere. I guess we’ll see how it ends up. I used the same yarn to knit Beth a hat last Autumn and it ended up too small for her as well.  I guess i’ll give it a chance and see what happens. I don’t want to rip it out just yet.

Did you see Ginny is knitting this pattern too? I can’t remember where I found it, maybe it was on her Ravelry? I’m not sure but I do like it. I think it will look sweet on a little girl over a dress or shorts, and I do hope to have it finished before Easter Monday (Arthur’s birthday).
